You can now set the PS3™ system to sequentially play multiple video files that are saved on the hard disk or storage media.

Off Videos are not played sequentially.
On Videos are played sequentially.
Hint
  • This feature is not available for some video content types, such as content with parental control restrictions or rental content with a restricted playback period. The PS3™ system will skip these content types to play the next video in the sequence.

Reconnecting Bluetooth® devices

The method for reconnecting Bluetooth® audio devices with the PS3™ system has been changed in [Audio Device Settings] under Settings (Settings) > accessory Settings (Accessory Settings).

Video

Scene Search

scene search (Scene Search) has been added as an option on the control panel.

Scene search

You can use this feature to view thumbnails (created at certain time intervals) for video content that is saved on the hard disk or storage media. Select a thumbnail to start playing the video from that particular scene. To use the feature, perform the following steps:

  1. While playing a video, press the triangel button.
  2. Select scene search (Scene Search).
  3. Use the up or down button to select the time interval to be used in creating the thumbnails.
You can select [Chapter] or one of the preset time intervals
  4. Use the left or right button to select the thumbnail for the scene that you want to watch.
Playback begins from the scene that you select.
Hints
  • The [Chapter] option can only be selected for video content that includes chapter information.
  • The scene search feature cannot be used for video content that is less than one minute in length.
  • The scene search feature cannot be used for some other types of video content.
  • When you select a thumbnail, a preview of the scene is played for about 15 seconds.

Chroma Upsampling

During BD (BDAV) and DVD playback, a technique known as “chroma upsampling” is now automatically applied to enhance some video images.

Hint
  • For Blu-ray Discs, chroma upsampling is effective only on video content recorded in BDAV format. BDAV is a Blu-ray Disc video format. Generally, when video content is recorded on BD-R or BD-RE media using a Blu-ray Disc recorder, the content is recorded in BDAV format. Chroma upsampling is not effective on video content recorded in BDMV format, including most commercially available BD video software (BD-ROM) now on the market.
